Project Description
When a vessel lost its anchor at the Aqaba anchorage area, Sealion's commercial diving team was called to locate and recover the lost anchor and chain from the seabed — at a depth of 57 metres. This is a technically demanding saturation-level dive that requires rigorous planning, strict adherence to decompression protocols, and a team of highly experienced divers operating under full safety management procedures. Sealion's dive team descended to 57 metres in the Red Sea, one of the most demanding operational depths for commercial diving work, successfully located the lost anchor and chain assembly on the seabed, assessed the structural condition and weight load before any recovery attempt, rigged the anchor and chain for controlled recovery using lifting equipment and guide ropes, and safely completed the full recovery operation — returning the anchor and chain to the vessel without incident. Operations at this depth require meticulous pre-dive planning including gas mixture calculations, bottom time limits, staged decompression stop scheduling, and equipment checks across every diver's rig before entry. The photography and documentation from this operation — showing the chain spread across the seabed, the anchor identification plate, and divers working the rigging lines at depth — reflects the professionalism and composure of the Sealion dive team under demanding conditions. This project is a direct demonstration of Sealion's capacity for deep recovery operations in the Red Sea, and the type of emergency underwater response that vessel operators in the Aqaba region can call on 24/7.
