Project Description
Large structural steel cargo — including heavy steel trusses, fabricated frames, and long steel sections — presents unique handling and repackaging challenges at port. When this consignment of structural steel components arrived at the Port of Aqaba with damaged packaging, contaminated surfaces, and sections requiring cleaning and repackaging before onward delivery or loading, Sealion was engaged to carry out the full cargo cleaning and repacking operation on the quayside. The scope involved high-pressure washing and surface cleaning of the steel structures to remove contamination, road debris, and surface deposits accumulated during transit, inspection of the structural members for any visible damage sustained during the voyage, repackaging and re-securing of individual cargo components using appropriate dunnage, timber framing, and protective wrapping, and preparation of the full cargo lot for safe onward handling, loading, or delivery. Working with heavy structural steel cargo at port — including large fabricated trusses measuring several metres in length and substantial steel sections requiring coordinated handling — demands careful rigging, appropriate ground support equipment, and an experienced cargo team that understands the difference between damage caused in transit and pre-existing condition. Sealion's port services team managed the full operation from initial assessment to final sign-off, providing the client with a cargo ready for the next stage of its journey in clean, properly secured, and documented condition. The photos from this operation, taken at the Port of Aqaba with the Aqaba skyline and Red Sea visible in the background, show the scale of the steel truss sections involved and the systematic approach Sealion's team applied to the cleaning and repacking program.
